This tour takes you to the hidden wonders of the Great Lakes region from its magnificent beaches and lush hinterland to Gloucester, gateway to the Barrington Tops. Enjoy a cruise, visit art galleries and sample local wines. You will be escorted all the way by Helen Terry.
DAY 1: Pick up from the Bay of Plenty and drive to Rotorua where we board our Air NZ direct flight to Sydney. Upon arrival we catch the Airport Link train to the Central Station in Sydney. We overnight in a hotel next to the station.
DAY 2: After breakfast this morning we make our way across the road to the Central Station and take the CountryLink train to Taree. Our hosts will be waiting for us at the station with their coach to transfer us to the Forster Palms Motel in the town of Forster. (B,D)
DAY 3: Your day begins today with a tour of the local Forster-Tuncurry town. We will enjoy morning tea while taking in the beautiful ocean and lake views. You will never forget the breathtaking panoramas of the Great Lakes Region including Seal Rocks, Smith Lakes and Pacific Palms Green Cathedral. (B,L,D)
DAY 4: Today (weather permitting) we will travel north to Port Macquarie where we will stroll along the boardwalk and experience the subtropical coastal bush at Sea Acres Nature Reserve. In the case of unsuitable weather, we will go to the Bago Winery at Wauchope. After lunch admire the scenic drive along the coast line of the Tasman Sea before your next destination – Crystalline Pottery by Rod Page.

DAY 5: We start our day in Forster’s most popular coastal and lake cruiser, the Amaroo. Our local Bottle-nosed dolphins happily interact with us and are encountered on almost every cruise (weather permitting). We will be visiting during whale watching season, so we should see some magnificent sights. After lunch enjoy some free time strolling through Forster’s town centre. (B,L,D)
DAY 6: We venture up to Wingham to enjoy this historical township. The town is laid out in the traditional English style, centered on a village green and surrounded by Federation and Victorian era buildings, boasting nature reserves and spectacular views of the mountain ranges. Weather permitting we visit a local Oyster Farm. Spoil your pallet with delicious fresh oysters. (B,L,D)
DAY 7: Enjoy a leisurely drive to the charming country tow of Gloucester, nestled under the southern tip of the Bucketts Range on the banks of the tranquil Gloucester River. We will enjoy a herbal experience at Hillview Herb Farm, where we will be educated on the uses of herbs for the bath, in culinary cuisine and for medicinal purposes. (B,L,D)
DAY 8: Today we are transferred to the Taree station where we will take the train journey back to Sydney. We then transfer to our hotel where we stay for 3 nights. (B)
DAY 9: This morning we will enjoy a tour of NSW’s capital city, to orientate ourselves. Then there is free time to explore this exciting city. (B)
DAY 10: Today we take a tour out to the Blue Mountains where we visit the award winning Featherdale Wildlife Park and pat a cuddly koala. See the amazing Australian animals including kangaroos, crocodiles, goannas and possums. In Katoomba take a gentle bushwalk to Govetts Leap for breathtaking views from the lookouts. See the Three Sisters rock formation and enjoy view of the Jamison Valley. Ride the world’s steepest railway – the Scenic Railway. (B)
DAY 11: This morning we check out of the hotel and are transferred directly to the airport for our direct flight to Rotorua. Our coach will be waiting for us to drive us home to the Bay of Plenty. (B)

• We will do our best our best to match you up with another person of the same sex. If we can’t then you will have a single room at no extra cost.
• A deposit of $500.00 per person is required upon booking. Please provide a copy of your passport upon booking. Cancellation after 01 Sep 2010 will incur an administration fee of $400.00. There is no refund for cancellation after booking.
• This tour is subject to minimum numbers being met. If we do not get enough people to fill the tour we will refund your deposit.
• The airfare is subject to availability.
• We strongly advise taking out fully comprehensive travel insurance once your deposit is paid. This will cover cancellation and curtailment prior to departure. We are happy to provide a quote for you.
